Trump claims Iran war is ‘saving’ Britain from nuclear attack
Donald Trump has asserted that his Iran war policy is “saving” Britain from a nuclear attack, criticizing the UK for not participating in the conflict, reports BritPanorama.
In an interview with GB News, the US President indicated that he would not support Britain in the event of an Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands, expressing dissatisfaction with the UK’s stance on the ongoing war. “I’m saving your country from the threat too,” he stated, emphasizing that Iran is more likely to use a nuclear weapon in Europe than in the US due to their missile capabilities.
Trump continued, “I’m saving your country from a problem because they would use it.” His remarks come amid rising tensions regarding the sovereignty of the Falklands and discontent over Britain’s apparent lack of support for US actions in Iran.
He asserted, “Your country was not there to help me,” referencing Britain’s reluctance to join the US-Israeli offensive against Iran when Sir Keir Starmer was Prime Minister. While Keir later approved “defensive” military actions, he declined to endorse Trump’s suggestions regarding naval support in sensitive regions like the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, Trump criticized Starmer, at one point dismissively labeling him “no Churchill.”
The conflict in the channel has brought significant volatility to global economies, triggering a rise in petrol prices. Trump warned that the UK would face “disaster” if it does not address immigration and alter its energy policy. He remarked, “If you don’t stop people pouring into your country from all over the world, you’re not going to have a country left.”
“You have a terrible mayor. He’s a nasty guy, nasty person. He’s a very bad mayor,” Trump added, referring to London’s mayor Sadiq Khan. In response, a source close to Khan suggested that Trump is fixated on him, noting that crime rates in London have decreased, contrary to Trump’s claims.
