Keir Starmer announces resignation as Prime Minister

SIR Keir Starmer fought back tears as he announced that he will quit as Prime Minister after less than two years in power, reports BritPanorama.

The Prime Minister addressed the nation outside Downing Street and confirmed he is set to formally leave No10 by September at the latest.

It remains unclear whether there will be a full-blown leadership battle or if MPs and unions will quickly unite behind front-runner Andy Burnham – whoever emerges as leader will automatically become PM.

If the power struggle over No10 were to escalate to a general election, then the Conservatives, Reform UK, and Restore Britain would campaign hard to gain leadership.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has pledged to lower taxes, increase deregulation, and unshackle the financial sector to boost investment in the UK, arguing that excessive red tape has suppressed growth and jobs.

Meanwhile, Reform UK’s Nigel Farage has a strong “stop the boats” policy and aims to scrap net zero targets to make household bills cheaper. Rupert Lowe of Restore Britain has promised an even tougher approach to immigration, vowing to “deport illegal migrants” if elected.

The upcoming months will be crucial for the Labour Party and its strategy in the wake of this significant political shift.

The resignation signifies a pivotal moment in UK politics, as the nation’s leaders navigate through turbulent times and prepare for the potential implications on governance.
