Outshine Fruit Bars recalled over contamination concerns
Some Outshine Fruit Bars distributed nationwide have been recalled amid concerns over potential contamination with glass, according to parent company Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, reports BritPanorama.
The recall was prompted by reports of glass in the fruit bars, which are marketed as containing “real fruits or fruit juice.” Fortunately, no illnesses or injuries have been reported.
Dreyer’s indicated in a news release that only five flavors—six-count packs of 2.5-ounce strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine, and black cherry bars—along with the 24-count variety pack are affected. The products have best-before dates from May 31 through November 30, 2027. A complete list of the UPC numbers and bar codes of the recalled products can be found in the release.
Consumers in possession of the affected Outshine Fruit Bars should dispose of them or return them for full refunds at their original place of purchase.
“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority,” Dreyer’s said in the release. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers.”
The incident raises ongoing questions regarding food safety standards and inspection practices within the industry.
