Poland investigates possible attack plot against senior officials
Poland’s police announced Sunday that they have received information regarding a potential plot to attack Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, reports BritPanorama.
An emergency meeting involving security services, police, and representatives from the Interior Ministry was set to convene at 11 a.m. (5 a.m. ET) to address the situation, as confirmed by Karolina Galecka, a spokesperson for the ministry.
In September, Tusk expressed concerns over an anticipated surge in hybrid attacks from Russia targeting NATO’s eastern flank.
He indicated that Russia might employ drones or rockets against European nations supporting Ukraine, including Poland, in an effort to undermine Western backing for Kyiv’s struggle against the Russian invasion. Moscow has denied any such intentions.
Further details regarding the alleged plot were not immediately released.
Heightened vigilance was already in place in Poland this week, following three school attacks within four days in Mazovia province, where Warsaw is located.
