Zelensky confirms major oil facility hit by Ukraine
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Ukraine has seen “important results” from deep strikes, and said Kyiv has struck a major oil facility, reports BritPanorama.
This development follows increased pressure from US President Donald Trump on Kyiv to refrain from attacking energy targets within Russia. Zelensky expressed gratitude towards Ukrainian soldiers for their efforts in pushing back against what he termed “Russia’s sick war.”
He noted, “This means thousands upon thousands of people in our defence industry working to ensure that Ukraine has the means to respond to every Russian strike.” The president also claimed that targets in the Black Sea and the Oryol region, known for drone operations, were hit, alongside measures against an oil facility in the Samara region.
The strikes form part of a larger operational strategy, with Zelensky stating, “These are exactly the kind of just responses we need right now. We will continue to deprive Russia of the ability to keep this war going.” In parallel, the UK government announced sanctions targeting 31 individuals and entities linked to Kremlin disinformation and military funding.
Analysts suggest that these recent actions underscore Ukraine’s commitment to maintaining momentum against Russian forces and highlight ongoing concerns regarding energy security amidst the conflict. The situation remains fluid, with further developments anticipated as both sides adapt to the changing dynamics of warfare.
