Premier League matchday round-up: Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Burnley end in draws

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Newcastle

Nottingham Forest edged closer to securing their Premier League status after Elliot Anderson struck against his former club Newcastle United to salvage a 1-1 draw at the City Ground, reports BritPanorama.

The midfielder, who departed St James’ Park for Forest two summers ago, found the net in the 87th minute, lifting his current club seven points above the relegation zone.

With just two matches remaining this season, Forest could confirm their survival later today should West Ham suffer defeat against Arsenal.

Substitute Harvey Barnes had appeared to keep Newcastle’s faint European ambitions alive when he capitalised on Jacob Ramsey’s through ball, holding off defender Morato before finishing in the 74th minute.

The goal temporarily elevated the Magpies to ninth position, although they now find themselves in 13th place, having fallen short of last season’s fifth-place finish and Carabao Cup triumph.

Bruno Guimaraes struck the crossbar with a free kick and saw goalkeeper Matz Sels fumble an earlier effort, while Nick Pope denied Taiwo Awoniyi in the second half before Anderson converted James McAtee’s delivery to secure a point for Forest.

Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

Crystal Palace hosted Everton at Selhurst Park, just days after reaching the UEFA Conference League final.

Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

Aston Villa, who thumped Forest on Thursday night, travelled to a Burnley side already down and preparing for life in the Championship next season.

As the league season nears its conclusion, the drama intensifies, with clubs fighting not only for survival but also for pride in a landscape where fortunes can shift dramatically. Each point matters, and today’s trysts offered a reminder of how swiftly the ebb and flow of football unfolds.
