Scottie Scheffler confirms participation in 3M Open

Scottie Scheffler, the world’s leading golfer, has confirmed he will participate in the 3M Open for the first time this summer, tournament organisers revealed on Monday, reports BritPanorama.

The event, Minnesota’s sole PGA Tour competition, is scheduled to run from 20-26 July at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. This marks a notable entry for Scheffler, who has been at the top of the global golf rankings for an impressive 155 weeks.

The 29-year-old expressed enthusiasm regarding his upcoming appearance. “I’m looking forward to playing the 3M Open for the first time,” he stated, adding, “I’ve heard great things about the event and I’m excited to get to Minnesota and compete at TPC Twin Cities.” His commitment denotes a significant boost for the tournament’s profile.

Tracy West, co-executive director of the tournament, expressed delight at having such a prominent competitor. “We’re thrilled to welcome Scottie Scheffler to the 3M Open… He’s one of the game’s elite players, and his commitment adds even more excitement to what is shaping up to be a strong and competitive field.”

Scheffler’s announcement follows an unsuccessful attempt at the Cadillac Championship, where he was bested by Cameron Young, who won by six strokes. Reflecting on this defeat, Scheffler noted his difficulties on the greens, mentioning, “I felt like I couldn’t really get anything going,” attributing his challenges to a lack of momentum and precision in his putting.

Despite these challenges, Scheffler remained optimistic, identifying some positive takeaways from his recent performances. “Overall, some good takeaways from this week,” he commented, acknowledging Young’s exceptional play throughout the tournament while also indicating there are lessons to be learned from his own experience.

As Scheffler gears up for a new challenge at the 3M Open, spectators will be keenly watching how the world number one navigates this event, adding yet another chapter to an already distinguished career.
