Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua sign deal for long-awaited heavyweight clash

Fury and Joshua reach agreement for long-anticipated bout

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to finally meet in the ring, with Britain’s two heavyweight rivals signing a deal, reports BritPanorama.

Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh confirmed the agreement on X, stating, “To my friends in Great Britain – it’s happening. It’s signed.” Neither Fury nor Joshua’s camp has officially confirmed the news as of yet.

The fight, which has been rumoured for decades, is reportedly set to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025, likely during October, November, or December.

A primary concern ahead of the match is Joshua’s performance in a scheduled warm-up bout against Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This fight will mark Joshua’s return after a hiatus following a car accident that claimed the lives of two friends.

Fury’s most recent outing saw him defeat Arslanbek Makhmudov, further intensifying the long-standing rivalry when the two exchanged words at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept?” Fury said, leading Joshua to retort with, “I punched you up when we were kids, and I’ll punch you up again. I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord,” to which Fury replied, “You [Anthony Joshua] are next. You are getting knocked out. Believe it.”

Alalshikh’s announcement coincided with Netflix’s social media post asserting that the fight would take place this autumn, with details about the exact location still to be disclosed.

Joshua expressed his relief at finalising a multi-fight deal, saying, “I’m delighted to have agreed a multi-fight deal starting with July 25 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I’m looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off. As I said: ‘The landlord will collect his rent. That is certain.’”

The buildup to this match has captivated boxing aficionados and the general public alike, reflecting the fierce competition within the heavyweight division as fans eagerly await a clash that has been years in the making.
