Thomas Tuchel praises Jude Bellingham as England face Czech Republic
Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Roy Keane’s glowing praise of Jude Bellingham was ‘beautiful’ to hear, with the England midfielder expected to feature against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night, reports BritPanorama.
Bellingham has been outstanding during this international break and, on Saturday, scored one and assisted three as the Three Lions battered Croatia 7-0. Since then, they’ve scored nine goals in two games, with their attacking flair winning plaudits around the world.
Keane, who is a pundit for ITV, suggested that the 23-year-old could go on to become one of the greatest players in the sport’s entire history. Tuchel, when questioned about those comments, expressed respect for Keane but refrained from elaborating, stating that it was a compliment to one of his players.
“[It’s a] big one, that’s what he’s paid for as a pundit!” Tuchel said. “If this is his opinion, it’s a beautiful one. He’s not attacking our player; it’s a compliment, so there’s no need to defend him or comment.”
England began their Nations League campaign with a setback, losing 3-2 to Spain, although they performed well as guests. Looking ahead to the fixture against the Czech Republic, Tuchel conveyed optimism regarding England’s progression, having recently overcome them in a prior match.
“I never coached any team to follow my ideas when it does not align with the players’ strengths or personalities,” he stated. “It always needs to match, and we’ve tried to implement this since we arrived.”
Tuchel acknowledged that while England’s progress has been commendable, he would reserve full judgement until the next match is concluded. “It’s three matches only, and we have one more to play. We will not assess our performance until the camp is finished,” he remarked. “We have to show another strong performance and the right attitude.”
As the team prepares for another challenge, Tuchel highlighted the importance of maintaining the rigorous standards that have allowed players to succeed and integrate seamlessly into the squad. The commitment to instilling values both on and off the pitch is seen as pivotal to their ongoing success.
In the world of football, where opinions can often diverge significantly, Keane’s admiration for Bellingham is not just a nod to the player’s current form but perhaps a reflection of the evolving expectations of young talent in the game. As England marches toward potential triumphs, this blend of seasoned insight and burgeoning promise encapsulates the unpredictable nature of football.
