Alex Scott withdraws from England squad due to injury

England and Bournemouth star Alex Scott has withdrawn from the Three Lions squad with injury, reports BritPanorama.

The midfielder will miss Tuesday’s clash against the Czech Republic and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Scott made his first start for England against Croatia over the weekend, showcasing his skills in a resounding 7-0 victory over the 2018 World Cup finalists.

Following his full debut, Scott expressed his determination to secure more playing time in Thomas Tuchel’s squad and leave his mark on the teamsheet.

He stated, “It gave me more hunger but I’ve said there’s so many top players for this country, it’s a tough squad to get into. There was no bad feelings about not going to the World Cup; I wanted to do that and learn as much as I can.” Scott highlighted the support of his teammates, adding that their camaraderie made him feel comfortable in the squad.

Tuchel praised Scott for his impressive performance, calling him the “complete package”. He noted, “First start and what a start, what a performance. He is so smooth on the ball; his decision-making is at the highest level.” The manager believes Scott is among the most in-form midfielders in the Premier League and admitted it was a difficult decision to leave him out of the World Cup squad.

Scott reflected on his experience leading up to the game, emphasizing the ease with which he was integrated into the squad: “They make it easy for you and make you feel as comfortable and confident as possible.” He reiterated his focus on maintaining a level of play that mirrors his club performance.

As the England squad prepares for their upcoming fixtures, Scott’s absence will undoubtedly pose a challenge, reminiscent of how quickly fortunes in football can shift. Injuries are an inherent part of sport, yet the resilience of young talents like Scott reflects the evolving landscape of international football.
