Manchester United boss provides update on Sesko after Premier League draw
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has addressed the condition of striker Benjamin Sesko, who exited Saturday’s 2-2 Premier League match against Tottenham due to injury, reports BritPanorama.
The match began with United taking the lead through Bryan Mbeumo, but Tottenham made a strong comeback, scoring twice with goals from Mathys Tel and Richarlison. United ended the match with 10 men after Sesko’s forced departure late in the game, having entered as a substitute earlier in the second half.
Despite the setback, United managed to secure a draw thanks to a header from Matthijs de Ligt. However, the implications of Sesko’s injury pose a significant challenge for the Red Devils as they face upcoming fixtures without him.
Amorim expressed uncertainty regarding the specifics of Sesko’s injury but assured that further assessments would be made in the coming days. “We have to see, we think he has a problem but let’s see,” he commented to TNT Sports. He shared mixed feelings about the match, noting both frustration and pride in the team’s response to the two goals conceded.
“This is the tip of the iceberg, we are at the beginning of becoming a strong team, so we have a lot to do,” the manager added. Amorim also believed that the performance should have warranted a win, reflecting on moments where the team could have capitalized on their lead.
His sentiments were echoed by goalscorer De Ligt, who expressed disappointment at not leaving with all three points. He remarked, “Luckily we got a point, I think we deserved more the way we played, I felt the second half we were a little tired.”
The upcoming schedule sees Tottenham preparing for a north London derby against Arsenal on November 24, while United will look to return to winning form against Everton on November 23. This ongoing season reveals much about the unpredictable nature of football, where a single injury can shift the balance of expectations for a club with such lofty ambitions.
