Mykhailo Mudryk joins Tottenham on loan from Chelsea
Mykhailo Mudryk has completed a dramatic loan move to Tottenham Hotspur from Chelsea, with the Ukraine international set to energize Spurs supporters for the remainder of the season, reports BritPanorama.
This transfer marks the end of Mudryk’s turbulent three-year stint at Stamford Bridge, during which he struggled to find consistent form. The agreement not only allows Spurs to secure his services until the end of the current season but also contains an option for a permanent transfer valued at £75 million.
Mudryk expressed his enthusiasm following the confirmation of the transfer, stating, “It’s a great feeling and I can’t wait to start training and playing for the club. I’m a player who brings speed and creativity, and I want to help in both the offensive and defensive areas. I want to make the fans excited.”
The 25-year-old winger reunites with manager Roberto De Zerbi, who previously guided him during his tenure at Shakhtar Donetsk. De Zerbi emphasized his belief in Mudryk’s abilities, noting, “Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team. He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent.”
Mudryk’s last competitive appearance was in November 2024, when he was provisionally suspended due to an anti-doping rule violation involving meldonium. Following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings, he accepted a suspension corresponding to the time he had already served and has consistently maintained that he never knowingly ingested a banned substance.
He returned to action during Chelsea’s pre-season tour, participating in a friendly against Juventus. However, he was omitted from the squad for the opening Premier League matches under Xabi Alonso, who oversaw a strong beginning to the season for Chelsea.
With the transfer now finalized, Tottenham continues to build a formidable squad, having spent over £300 million this summer, including the permanent signing of Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo for £12 million. Mudryk’s addition is expected to further enhance the depth and dynamism within Spurs’ attacking lineup, revitalising hopes for a strong campaign ahead.
