Manchester United backs Jason Wilcox despite Lisandro Martinez’s criticism
Manchester United remains firmly behind director of football Jason Wilcox, even following recent criticism from defender Lisandro Martinez regarding the club’s recruitment efforts, reports BritPanorama.
According to The Times, Wilcox retains the full support of United’s hierarchy, with no indication that his position is under threat. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who attended the defeat in Madrid, continues to hold the director of football in high regard.
This backing suggests that Martinez’s comments have not significantly swayed senior officials’ perspectives on Wilcox, despite the defender expressing his dissatisfaction with the club’s performance in the summer transfer window.
In an interview with Amazon Prime after the match, Martinez articulated his expectations for more from the club’s recruitment operation, highlighting a sentiment that has resonated with the fanbase.
As United grapples with its position after a disappointing start to the season, the ongoing endorsement of Wilcox raises questions about the club’s direction and the balance between player input and managerial decisions. It is a delicate time for the club, where the echoes of ambition clash with the realities of the current squad, reminding all that in football, sometimes the most vocal criticisms come from within.
