Luke Littler to headline new Netflix darts competition
Luke Littler will star in a new Netflix show which gives fans the chance to win £501,000 if they beat him at darts, reports BritPanorama.
The show, titled “Beat Luke Littler,” is set to air live on Netflix in late October. In this competition, 20 players will be selected following open regional heats, where they will attempt to defeat the 19-year-old, who recently achieved a significant victory by beating Gerwyn Price in the World Matchplay final.
Netflix announced the show stating, “The rules are simple: one night, one chance, and one perfect leg of 501.” If an amateur participant manages to defeat Littler, they will receive the substantial cash prize of £501,000. The show, produced in partnership with the PDC, aims to capture the authentic atmosphere of competitive darts during live broadcasts.
To recruit the contestants, Netflix has launched a nationwide search, featuring a video message from Littler himself challenging the public to take their shot. Regional heats will take place in Manchester and London this September, as the competition seeks to identify the 20 players who will eventually compete in the live show.
Littler expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity for fans to participate, stating, “Everyone thinks they can beat me. Now they get a chance to prove it.” His confidence comes on the heels of an impressive showing at the World Matchplay final, where he dominated Price with an 18-9 victory, achieving an average score of 111.53 in the match, surpassing Phil Taylor’s previous record of 106.31 for a tournament average.
In his post-match reflections, Littler noted, “I can get a lot better… Maybe in a few years’ time I will stick it and go up to a 120 average.” With each victory, he is underscoring the ongoing trajectory of his burgeoning career, having already claimed every major title this season and now seeking to retain his Matchplay trophy.
