Luke Littler clinches Czech Darts Open title in impressive return
Luke Littler made a stunning return to the European Tour, winning the Czech Darts Open title after a six-month hiatus from the circuit, reports BritPanorama.
The 19-year-old world number one had not competed in any European events since the Belgian Darts Open in March, as he carefully managed his schedule throughout 2026.
Littler demonstrated his readiness by powering through the draw in Prague, ultimately defeating rival Luke Humphries 8-6 in a highly competitive final.
Securing his sixth European Tour crown in just 16 appearances, Littler also took home a prize of £35,000 for his performance.
His journey to the final was marked by dominant performances, beginning with a challenging match against Krzysztof Ratajski in the last 16. After falling behind 3-1, Littler turned the tide, winning five consecutive legs to finish at 6-3 and maintaining his unbeaten record against the Polish player.
In the quarter-finals, he delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Danny Noppert, showing little mercy in that encounter.
Facing three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals, Littler continued his impressive form, winning 7-3 and setting up a much-anticipated showdown with Humphries.
The final showcased a back-and-forth battle, with Humphries initially taking a 4-3 lead. However, Littler responded decisively, unleashing four legs in succession to establish a 7-4 advantage.
Humphries managed to narrow the gap to 7-6 and had two darts at double 16 to equalize, but ultimately missed the crucial opportunities. Littler capitalized on the moment, finishing with a score of 39 to claim victory.
“It’s what the fans deserved, obviously the two best going at it in a final once again. I’m glad I’ve won,” Littler stated. Meanwhile, Humphries revealed that he had considered withdrawing from the tournament: “I was going to pull out Thursday, and I made the final, so I can’t be too upset with myself because I did really well.”
With the trophy in hand, Littler is now focused on the upcoming European Championship finals in Dortmund in October, a title he is keen to add to his collection. “Dortmund’s obviously the one I’m chasing,” he noted, while also suggesting his participation in the remaining Euro Tour events this season is uncertain now that he has secured his place in Dortmund.
“We’ll have to see what happens, see what the plan is, see how busy I am,” he added, indicating that he remains open to adjustments in his schedule. Humphries, for his part, aims to put pressure on Littler in the coming months, stating, “Hopefully over the next four months, I push him. If he does the clean sweep, he has to do it the hard way.”
As Littler continues to rise in the ranks, his latest triumph adds another chapter to his burgeoning career, underscoring his status as a formidable competitor on the darts circuit.
