Luke Humphries credits fiancée for supporting his Premier League Finals Night comeback

Luke Humphries secures spot at Premier League Finals Night

Luke Humphries completed a remarkable turnaround to secure his place at the Premier League Finals Night, defeating Stephen Bunting, Luke Littler, and Gerwyn Price in a pivotal match in Birmingham, reports BritPanorama.

The reigning champion, who had been five points adrift of the top four just weeks prior, showcased one of his best performances of the season to clinch his first nightly victory of the campaign. This win ensures that he will return to London’s O2 Arena to defend the title he won last year.

After securing his spot, Humphries credited his fiancée, Kayley Jones, with playing a crucial role in restoring his confidence. “Yes, there was a point where I thought I wouldn’t make Finals Night,” he admitted. “When you are five points outside the top four you think you need a miracle. But in the back of my mind and my girlfriend’s mind, we knew I had it in me.”

The 31-year-old, who has experienced a meteoric rise in recent years, expressed immense pride in his latest achievement. “I’m incredibly proud of myself, probably the most proud I’ve ever been in my life,” he stated. “To make three finals and win one means a lot.”

Humphries, the world No 2, performed notably in the semi-final against Littler, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to produce six consecutive legs, culminating in a stunning 6-3 comeback averaging close to 111. He maintained his form in the final, averaging 100.16 and securing a brilliant 117 checkout to edge Price 6-4.

The victory caps off a compelling recovery for Humphries, affirming his position among the four players competing for the Premier League crown at the O2 Arena. “I’m really proud because it would have hurt me had I not defended the title at The O2,” he concluded, echoing the sentiment of many who have followed the sport closely.
