Lewis Hamilton reflects on emotional moment as Arsenal secures Premier League title

Lewis Hamilton expresses emotion over Arsenal’s Premier League title win

Lewis Hamilton shared he shed a tear when Arsenal clinched the Premier League title, with Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth securing the title for the Gunners with a game to spare, reports BritPanorama.

The seven-time Formula One world champion reflected on his memories of supporting the club and the profound emotions associated with their victory. “Like for everyone, [I was] very emotional. I shed a tear,” he stated.

Hamilton recalled his childhood in Stevenage, where he was often the only Black child among his peers, trying to find his place amidst those who supported different teams such as West Ham, Tottenham, and Manchester. “I was bouncing around all these teams when I was like four or five years old depending on who I was with,” he explained.

He reminisced about a specific moment with his sister, who urged him to support Arsenal. “I remember my sister… she was walking me home and asked me who I supported and then gave me a dig in my arm and said ‘we have to support Arsenal’,” Hamilton said, adding that they recently shared a laugh about it.

The title marks Arsenal’s first in 22 years, coming after numerous near misses. Hamilton expressed joy for the club’s success, noting, “We have had so many close moments and to finally get it was like ‘wow’.” He expressed pride in the team and highlighted the direction they have taken in recent years, stating, “I think they can go from strength to strength from here.”

Looking ahead, Arsenal’s focus is now on capturing their first-ever Champions League title, with a challenging encounter against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on May 30. Hamilton, inspired by Arsenal’s journey, remarked, “I’m always learning how I can be a better colleague… Teamwork really does make the dream work – it’s a real thing.” This weekend, Hamilton will chase his first win with Ferrari at the Canadian Grand Prix, currently sitting joint fourth in points with compatriot Lando Norris.

It’s a reminder of how sport can bridge personal histories and fuel a collective passion, drawing both triumph and inspiration from each goal reached.
