England’s World Cup squad numbers confirmed
England’s squad numbers have been confirmed for the World Cup, with Jude Bellingham being handed the No 10 jersey, reports BritPanorama.
Captain Harry Kane will wear the No 9 shirt, while Bukayo Saka will don the No 7 and Marcus Rashford the No 11. Jordan Pickford is once again England’s number one, while Declan Rice has been confirmed as the Three Lions’ No 4.
At the back, Ezri Konsa will wear the No 2, while John Stones will don the number five. Marc Guehi has been given the No 6 jersey, and youngster Nico O’Reilly has been given the No 3 in a boost to his hopes of starting left back. Elliot Anderson completes the first 11, wearing the No 8, with the Nottingham Forest star expected to start alongside Declan Rice.
Nine England stars will be making their World Cup debuts, including O’Reilly and Anderson. Highly-rated attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers will wear No 17, while Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has been handed the No 16 strip.
England touched down in Miami yesterday as Thomas Tuchel’s squad starts to prepare for this summer’s World Cup. The majority of the 26-man party departed from Birmingham airport, landing in Florida to begin their pre-tournament training camp.
Several Arsenal players will link up with their teammates later, having featured in Saturday’s Champions League final loss to PSG. The squad will spend five days adjusting to the sweltering Florida conditions, with temperatures at their Palm Beach base anticipated to exceed 30 degrees Celsius.
Tuchel’s side faces New Zealand in a warm-up fixture at Tampa Bay on Saturday before travelling to Orlando for a second friendly against Costa Rica the following Tuesday. The squad will then enjoy a brief period of rest and time with family members before relocating to their tournament headquarters in Kansas City. The German coach has pledged to secure a second star for the England shirt, 60 years after the Three Lions first.
As England prepares for the challenge ahead, the excitement is palpable, underscoring both the hopes and anxieties of a nation longing for success on the world stage.
