DK Metcalf faces potential discipline after incident with fan
NFL star DK Metcalf could face disciplinary action after he appeared to throw a punch at a fan during his team’s Sunday’s 29-24 win against the Detroit Lions, reports BritPanorama.
Footage showed the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver engaging with a spectator on the sidelines at Ford Field before he lashed out with a closed fist. Contact between the 6ft 4 athlete and the fan, who was wearing a blue wig and leaning over the railing in the front row of the stands, appeared to be minimal.
Match officials seemed to miss the incident entirely; however, the 28-year-old Metcalf could face retrospective punishment as the NFL reviews the situation.
Known for his remarkable physicality and speed, Metcalf was a second-round draft pick in 2019 and has made two Pro Bowl appearances. In March 2025, he was traded to the Steelers following six seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and signed a five-year contract extension worth a total of $150 million.
The Lions, meanwhile, saw their playoff hopes dashed in a controversial fashion as a Jared Goff touchdown on the final play was ruled out due to pass interference.
