Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes fell victim to a burglary at his home while he was in Italy for a Champions League match, reports BritPanorama.
Detectives are now working to establish what happened and identify those responsible for the break-in. Detective Inspector David Jarvis of Macclesfield Proactive CID stated, “The investigation is in its early stages at this time, and we’re committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible.”
This incident adds Fernandes to a growing list of footballers whose homes have been targeted while they are away for club duties. Notably, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias and his former girlfriend Maya Jama have previously experienced similar burglaries under comparable circumstances.
The trend highlights a troubling issue within the sport, reflecting the vulnerabilities players face outside the field. It raises questions about security measures and how clubs can better protect their athletes during their absences.
