Basketball star Matteo Bettanti is fighting for his life after crashing his Ferrari into a flower shop in Italy, reports BritPanorama.
The incident occurred just after 8pm local time on Sunday evening when the 21-year-old reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with the wall of a shop in the Pavia region. Bettanti was immediately airlifted to Niguarda Hospital.
He remains in a critical condition, according to Sport Italia, with reports indicating that the impact was so severe that emergency services had to intervene to force the doors open. Another individual, identified as Alberto Righini, was also reportedly involved in the crash.
Bettanti’s basketball club, Elachem Vigevano 1955, expressed their support in a public statement: “The Nuova Pallacanestro Vigevano 1955 family is rooting for Matteo Bettanti, who was injured in a serious car accident that occurred along with another person on the evening of Sunday, November 9th.”
As detailed by the club, Bettanti is currently in a “code red” status in intensive care, responding to treatment, and under close monitoring by hospital staff. His club has conveyed hope for his recovery, stating, “Go Matteo, don’t give up!”
