Farage received the £5 million gift from Harborne prior to the 2024 general election, without reporting it to the appropriate authorities. The Parliament’s standards commissioner is now examining these claims, and if he is found in breach of the rules, he could face sanctions, including potential suspension from the House of Commons.
The financial support from Harborne is claimed by Farage to be a personal gift. However, he has offered varying explanations, suggesting the money was allocated for safety and security and later termed as a “reward for campaigning for Brexit for 27 years”.
