Michael van Gerwen reveals weight loss linked to marriage breakdown
Michael van Gerwen has credited the stress caused by his marriage breakdown with helping him shed an astonishing four-and-a-half stone, reports BritPanorama.

Now 37 years old, he has returned to the sport with a noticeably slimmer appearance, revealing that he has lost 28 kilograms, which is equivalent to approximately four stone and six pounds. His transformation underscores significant lifestyle changes aimed at improving his health.
During a recent livestream, Van Gerwen shared insights about his weight loss journey, noting that he had dropped his habit of consuming unhealthy food late at night after matches. “How much weight did I lose? 28 kilos,” he stated. “I used to always eat after the darts when I went back. I used to eat badly all the time. I never do it anymore.”
Humorously, he remarked, “I have some very good advice: just divorce. That’s so much stress. Doesn’t matter. Easy.” His candid comments reflect the broader struggles he’s faced in managing personal and professional commitments in light of the separation.
In addition to discussing his dietary changes, Van Gerwen revealed his drinking preferences, stating that he has never enjoyed beer, despite the social environments typical in professional darts. “I don’t mind a good glass of wine, guys,” he noted, suggesting that moderation has become key in both his diet and social life.
