Premier League releases fixtures for new season
The Premier League have released the fixtures for the new season, with newly-promoted sides Coventry and Hull handed tough starts, reports BritPanorama.
Coventry faces a daunting trip to champions Arsenal, who will be eager to defend their crown after a sensational campaign last time out. The match is scheduled for 8pm on Friday, August 21.
Hull, also newly promoted, will host Manchester United the following day at 12.30pm. Michael Carrick’s side is coming off a strong third-place finish last term, further elevating expectations.
Meanwhile, Ipswich, another promoted team, is set to face Sunderland at home. Typically, the new season would commence earlier; however, Premier League officials opted for a later start to ensure player welfare, particularly as the World Cup is set to conclude on July 19.
Among the other opening fixtures are Brentford vs Tottenham, Everton vs Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest vs Leeds, with Brighton meeting Aston Villa and Manchester City hosting Bournemouth on Sunday. The round of fixtures will conclude with Fulham taking on Chelsea at Craven Cottage on August 24.
This year’s Boxing Day features notable matches, including Newcastle against Manchester City, with additional clashes involving Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal promising to captivate fans during the festive period.
Clearly, the excitement of the approaching season is palpable. With tough fixtures and high stakes, both newly-promoted teams will hope to make their mark early on, setting the stage for a captivating campaign ahead.
