Philippe Senderos outlines Arsenal's strategy to defeat PSG in Champions League final

Senderos reveals how Arsenal can conquer PSG in Champions League final

Former Arsenal star Philippe Senderos has shared his insight exclusively with BritPanorama, detailing how the Gunners can beat PSG in the Champions League final. In the biggest game in the club’s history, Arsenal have travelled to Budapest to face the current European champions.

Senderos, who was part of the squad the last time the Gunners played in the Champions League final, explained how he believes Mikel Arteta’s men can overcome Luis Enrique’s formidable side. Speaking in association with Spreadex Sports, the Swiss said: “It’s going to be a real, real big team effort.”

“We know that PSG has amazing offensive power and quality, and players who can unlock situations at any time,” he added. Senderos noted that with PSG having recently won a title, the pressure is off their shoulders, which could allow them to express themselves more freely on the pitch.

The former defender emphasized the importance of not letting the occasion overshadow their performance. “Do not let the occasion become the most important, and just play the game the way they know how to do,” he stated.

When discussing the current Arsenal side, Senderos highlighted their exceptional defensive capabilities. “The goalkeeper has been tremendous, and the defence, you know, the whole approach towards defending and being hard to beat, and keeping so many clean sheets,” he noted. “This approach that everyone is ready to put their body on the line and defend is special at the club.”

Against the backdrop of a top-form PSG, who have scored an impressive 140 goals across all competitions this season, Senderos acknowledged the challenges Arsenal will face. “What I’m most impressed with about PSG is what Luis Enrique has been able to do,” he commented, citing the work ethic of players like Ousmane Dembélé and others, contrasting it with previous seasons when star players had been less willing to contribute defensively.

With Arsenal making it to the Champions League final after defeating Atletico Madrid and PSG overcoming Bayern Munich, the stakes are high. The Gunners last reached the final in 2006, where they suffered heartbreak against Barcelona. This time, they aim to seize the moment not just for glory, but to complete a double having won the Premier League earlier this month. The Champions League final is scheduled to kick off at 5pm on Saturday at the Puskas Arena.

As anticipation builds for this historic encounter, one can’t help but reflect on the weight of expectation that comes with being a club on the cusp of greatness. How Arsenal navigates that pressure could very well determine whether they emerge victorious or face disappointment once more.
