Daniel Ingham dies in qualifying crash at Isle of Man TT

Isle of Man TT racer Daniel Ingham killed in crash

Isle of Man TT racer, Daniel Ingham, has been killed in a crash during qualifying for the competition, reports BritPanorama.

The 33-year-old was involved in a crash at Doran’s Bend on the western side of the course, completing his first lap of the third qualifying session. His tragic accident has sent ripples through the racing community as it marks a somber moment in this year’s event.

Ingham had been a regular on the Isle of Man’s Mountain Course since 2016, initially competing in the Manx Grand Prix before moving to the TT races. He was a newcomer at the 2026 Isle of Man TT, having made his debut at the North West 200 races in Northern Ireland earlier in May.

In a statement, organisers expressed their condolences: “The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to his wife, Helayna, and his son Joey and daughter Phoebe, as well as his family and friends.” They noted that Ingham was a “popular and well-respected member of the road racing community,” adding they are “deeply saddened” by the loss.

This crash follows another significant incident during the first week of racing, where eight spectators were injured after a motorbike crashed into a crowd. The incident at Ramsey’s Parliament Square involved a bike exiting the road and pushing crowd barriers back into attendees, leading to hospitalization for all affected. Thankfully, they were reported as conscious and transferred for further treatment. The rider was also conscious, albeit with leg injuries.

Organisers were compelled to halt racing activities the day of Ingham’s crash, noting the implementation of serious incident protocols. An investigation is underway involving race, medical, and safety personnel to ensure a thorough examination of these incidents.

Additionally, the racing community mourns the loss of another competitor, Alan Oversby, who died last week after a crash at the Billown Circuit. Oversby was an experienced racer and had competed since 2005. The Southern 100 Road Races extended their “deepest sympathy” to his family and team during this difficult time.

The Isle of Man TT Races has always been a venue for thrilling competition, but it also serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks involved. Ingham’s passion for the sport was evident to all who knew him, and his untimely passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply in the road racing community. With these tragedies, attention inevitably turns to safety protocols and the emotional toll on families connected to this daring sport.
