Luke Littler’s boxing dreams on hold due to girlfriend’s concerns
Luke Littler has revealed that his girlfriend Faith Millar has put the brakes on his dream of stepping into the boxing ring – despite the teenage darts sensation admitting he would ‘love’ to fight on a future Misfits card, reports BritPanorama.
The 19-year-old world No 1 was ringside on Saturday night as Daniel Dubois produced a stunning comeback to stop Fabio Wardley in a brutal heavyweight showdown at Manchester’s Co-op Arena. Littler, who was captivated by the match, expressed his admiration for what he described as one of the greatest heavyweight contests he has ever seen.
Despite his enthusiasm for the sport, Littler acknowledged that his own boxing ambitions are unlikely to bear fruit anytime soon. Speaking after the fight, he confessed that Faith is not in favour of him switching his focus from darts to boxing.
“I’d love to, but the missus does not want me to,” he told The Sun, when asked about potentially switching sports. The Warrington talent has long been open about his love for boxing, having attended the event from the start to watch the entire undercard before the main fight commenced.
Littler hinted that if he were ever to lace up the gloves, it would most likely be for a one-off appearance on a Misfits Boxing show. “I’d love to. A one-off definitely, on Misfits,” he added. However, for now, it seems that Faith’s preferences take precedence.
This revelation came after an unforgettable night of action in Manchester, where Dubois overcame two early knockdowns to batter Wardley into submission in the 11th round, sealing a dramatic victory in front of an 18,000-strong crowd.
Dubois, reflecting on his performance, expressed gratitude for the fight, stating, “It was a war, we went through the sticky moments. Thank you Fabio for that, thank you. I know I’ve got heart, bundles of heart. I’m a warrior in there.” He added appreciation to Wardley for being a “durable warrior” and looked forward to growing from the experience to become a champion once again.
