Delta Goodrem to represent Australia at Eurovision 2025

Delta Goodrem will represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Vienna, where she will perform her ballad “Eclipse” in the grand final, reports BritPanorama.

Goodrem was announced as Australia’s representative after the country was invited to join the event in 2015, which marked a significant inclusion for a nation located 10,000 miles from Europe. The singer’s participation is seen as a reflection of her long-standing popularity and commitment to the contest, promising a performance filled with emotion and grandeur.

Despite the excitement, Goodrem acknowledges the pressure that comes with the possibility of receiving null points, a scenario that terrifies any contestant. She expressed her enthusiasm for participation, stating, “I’m always open-hearted and I know to do something when I’m excited by it. This is a celebration. I’m bringing Australia with me in my heart.”

The logistics of hosting Eurovision in Australia have also been a topic of discussion. Should Goodrem win, the implications of Australia hosting the event would require substantial planning and considerations. She remarked, “It’d be so fun. I think we’d be a great host, we’d definitely want to look after everyone.”

Goodrem, now 41, began her career as a child star with a recording deal from Sony at the age of 15 and gained fame through her role in the television series “Neighbours.” She has since sold over eight million albums worldwide and has been a judge on “The Voice Australia” for eight years, cultivating relationships with fellow artists, including Boy George, who is competing this year representing San Marino.

Her battle with health issues has shaped her life. Diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma at 18 while her debut album, “Innocent Eyes,” topped Australian charts, she has emerged as a symbol of resilience. Goodrem’s journey has influenced her music, leading to her 2020 single “Paralysed,” which reflects her experiences during recovery.

With her husband, Matthew Copley, Goodrem has co-managed her independent record label, Atled, and they have collaborated on various projects, including preparations for Eurovision. As she finalizes her performance details, including a custom costume, she aims to engage her audience with a memorable show.

“You’re going to be surprised,” Goodrem teased about her upcoming performance. As she enters the competitive atmosphere of Eurovision, her extensive experience in the entertainment industry allows her to approach the event with professionalism and a positive mindset.

Delta Goodrem’s Eurovision single, “Eclipse,” is available now. She will compete in the second semi-final of Eurovision on 14 May, live on BBC One, with the grand final airing on 16 May.
