Jon Rahm resolves dispute with DP World Tour, paving way for Ryder Cup
Jon Rahm has officially settled his dispute with the DP World Tour, a development that significantly enhances his prospects for participation in next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, reports BritPanorama.
Rahm confirmed earlier this week that he paid his outstanding fines, thus fulfilling the necessary tournament requirements to maintain his membership and qualify for Luke Donald’s team selection. Rory McIlroy welcomed this resolution, expressing satisfaction that the matter is now resolved.
“I think it’s good that we have it all behind us,” McIlroy told Golf Channel ahead of this week’s Truist Championship at Quail Hollow. He added, “We all know that having Jon on the team is better than not having him on the team.”
McIlroy acknowledged that Rahm required more time than some of his peers to reach an agreement, but he was glad the issue had been put to rest. McIlroy, who will begin his campaign at Quail Hollow on Thursday, admitted he would focus on improving his driving accuracy after some dissatisfaction with that aspect during the Masters, despite winning the prestigious tournament.
“Driving accuracy,” he stated when asked about his focus. “I didn’t drive the ball as well as I would like to at Augusta, but I felt like every other aspect of the game was really good.”
A strong performance at Quail Hollow would not only serve as a solid preparation for next week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink but also enable McIlroy to pursue his seventh major title and third Wanamaker Trophy.
Reflecting on his approach, McIlroy emphasized the importance of finding more fairways in his game. As he enters this next chapter, his consecutive Masters triumphs have invigorated his sense of purpose, setting the stage for a thrilling summer of golf.
