Tyson Fury plans July fight ahead of Anthony Joshua showdown

Tyson Fury is reportedly considering a bout this July prior to his highly anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua, marking a significant moment in the long-standing rivalry between the two British heavyweight boxers, reports BritPanorama.

The two athletes have finally agreed to a lucrative two-fight deal, with the first of these encounters tentatively scheduled for November, potentially concluding a 16-year feud. However, Fury’s intention to fight before meeting Joshua could complicate the arrangement for what has been described as the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Veteran boxing journalist Chris McKenna has suggested that Fury aims to secure a match in July, which might coincide with Joshua’s own preparation bout. McKenna noted on X, “Tyson Fury likely to seek fight in July before Anthony Joshua clash later in 2026.”

Fury’s planned warm-up fight could coincide with Joshua’s encounter against the relatively unknown Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia, where Joshua must prevail to ensure the November showdown proceeds as intended. Following his recent points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, Fury is keen to retain optimal physical and mental condition ahead of the clash with Joshua.

However, such plans come with inherent risks. Any injury sustained in July, even minor, could jeopardize the highly awaited match-up. A defeat for Fury could also derail the superfight that boxing fans in the UK have long awaited.

Joshua’s upcoming bout will be his first appearance in the ring since overpowering Jake Paul last December, a contest marked by considerable public interest after Joshua emerged victorious despite personal challenges. The stage is set for Fury and Joshua, but the path leading to their encounters remains fraught with uncertainty.

Ultimately, the world of boxing often reflects the unpredictability of sports; the anticipation and fervour for this bout is palpable, yet the spectre of potential pitfalls looms large as both fighters prepare for what could be a historic showdown.
