Liverpool confirms Mohamed Salah's hamstring injury is minor, he will return this season

Liverpool confirms Salah’s injury less serious than feared

Liverpool have confirmed that Mohamed Salah’s hamstring injury is far less serious than initially feared, with the club announcing he’ll be back in action before the season wraps up, reports BritPanorama.

This announcement provides a sharp contrast to earlier claims from Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt’s national team director, who suggested that Salah had “suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment” — a prognosis that would have essentially ended his season.

However, Liverpool’s statement clarifies that Salah is dealing with a minor muscle issue, which allows the 33-year-old forward to aim for a proper farewell as he prepares to leave the club this summer.

The injury occurred during a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace, where Salah was forced off the pitch after overstretching for a pass. He was visibly emotional as he exited, applauding the fans who showered him with support, many fearing it could be his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt.

The club’s confirmation includes a commitment: “Liverpool FC can confirm Mohamed Salah is expected to be available to play again before the end of this season.” This reassures both fans and teammates about Salah’s role in the closing matches of the campaign.

With four Premier League fixtures remaining, Salah and Liverpool will encounter Manchester United in their next match, followed by Chelsea at home and Aston Villa away, culminating in what promises to be an emotional send-off against Brentford at Anfield on 24 May.

Salah announced last month that he would be departing from Liverpool at the end of this season, having reached an agreement with the club to effectively cancel the final year of the two-year extension he signed in April last year. He will leave as a free agent this summer, closing an impressive chapter in his career.

His legacy at Anfield is substantial; he ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 257 goals in 440 appearances.

Manager Arne Slot, reflecting on the recent injury scare after the Palace match, remarked, “Another win and another injury. It’s the story of our season. We all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch.”

As Salah navigates these final matches, the question remains: how will fans and the club alike adjust to his impending departure? His next appearances could well blend celebration with the bittersweet taste of parting.
