Thierry Henry addresses backlash over Ballon d’Or comment
Thierry Henry has responded to criticism regarding comments made during the Ballon d’Or ceremony, claiming that fellow presenter Kate Scott was aware of the playful exchange involving a pronunciation joke, reports BritPanorama.
In a social media video, Henry stated that Scott purposefully pronounced the name to elicit his reaction. “Now let’s move on to Kate, she was with me on the joke, and you can ask Kate, by the way,” he stated, seeking to clarify the intent behind the interaction.
Henry explained that Scott’s use of “Socrates” was intentional, maintaining that he responded in kind. “Again, that you didn’t like the joke, I understand, but please stop saying I disrespected Kate,” he added. “I will never do that, and you can ask her people, she was in on the joke with me.”
His comments reflect an attempt to defuse the situation, emphasizing that he does not condone disrespect towards Scott. Rather, he insists the moment was meant in good humour. As this narrative unfolds, it serves as a reminder of how public figures often navigate the delicate balance of humour and respect in high-profile settings.
