Reform UK receives substantial donation from firm linked to Chelsea chairman

Reform UK has received a £75,000 contribution from Eldridge Capital Management Services (UK), a firm associated with Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly, according to newly published Electoral Commission data, reports BritPanorama.

Boehly, 52, led the consortium that acquired Chelsea in 2022 and remains actively involved in the club’s operations at Stamford Bridge. This substantial donation is part of his broader pattern of political contributions, often directed towards right-leaning candidates and causes.

Additional insight reveals that Eldridge Capital Management is the principal division of Eldridge Industries, a Miami-based holding company where Boehly serves as CEO and co-founder. His estimated net worth is around $9.3 billion (£6.9 billion).

The donation aligns with Boehly’s historical track record of supporting Republican candidates, including former President Donald Trump. The recent Electoral Commission report highlighted Reform UK’s significant fundraising, which reached £5.3 million from various supporters in the quarter ending June, surpassing contributions to other parties, including Labour, which received £3.6 million.

This latest infusion of funds solidifies Reform UK’s positioning within the UK political landscape. The party’s conference is set to take place in Birmingham on September 3, emphasizing its ambitions as it continues to expand its influence in British politics.
