Mohamed Salah banned from driving for six months
Former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months after driving 36mph in a 30mph zone, reports BritPanorama.
Salah did not inform police that he was the driver when a speed camera captured his Rolls-Royce in Wilmslow, Cheshire, according to court documents. The 34-year-old failed to respond to the prosecution notice from Cheshire Constabulary and did not enter a plea.
A court official stated that he was prosecuted at Warrington Combined Court under the Single Justice Procedure, where magistrates conduct private hearings. He was found guilty of failing to provide information about the driver of the vehicle.
Salah was given a six-month driving ban and ordered to pay £1,044. The offence occurred shortly after he announced his departure from Liverpool, having spent nine years at the club. He confirmed his exit from the team in March via social media, expressing, “I never imagined how deeply this club, this city and the people would become part of my life.”
The Egyptian joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from Serie A club Roma. During his tenure, he helped secure two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the Super Cup, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield. Salah described Liverpool as “not just a football club. It is a passion, a history, a spirit. I can’t explain in words.”
After leaving the Reds, Salah completed a move to Trabzonspor after the Turkish club offered him a lucrative two-year contract. His reported earnings at the club stand at around £14.5 million per season, which includes a £4.2 million signing-on bonus. Notably, the contract also incorporates a clause granting him 20 percent of profits from the sales of his official shirts, with the club having already begun selling merchandise featuring his name prior to the transfer being officially completed.
So far this season, Salah has scored seven goals in just six league matches, making him the joint top scorer in the division and contributing significantly to his team’s total league goals. Despite his strong performance, Trabzonspor currently occupies seventh place in a tightly contested league.
