Michael Carrick appointed as Manchester United manager

Carrick is expected to sign an initial two-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months. It remains unclear whether the fine details will be completed before United face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The 44-year-old has overseen an impressive turnaround since taking charge in January, guiding United back into the UEFA Champions League. During a press conference, Carrick hinted that an announcement regarding his future was imminent. “The future for me is going to be decided pretty soon, we knew that,” he stated, adding, “There’s two games to go, and apart from that there’s not much else to say. In a match that may also mark Casemiro’s final appearance at Old Trafford before his anticipated departure this summer, Carrick has lauded the Brazilian’s contributions, stating, “Since I’ve been here and worked with him, he’s been fantastic for us. Credit to him for the way he’s gone about that.”
