Liverpool targets RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande as Salah replacement

Liverpool is focused on acquiring RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande to fill the gap left by Mohamed Salah, who bid farewell to the club over the weekend, reports BritPanorama.

The 19-year-old Diomande has garnered attention for his impressive performance this season, tallying 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions. Liverpool is reportedly considering activating his release clause, estimated at around €100 million (£86 million).

Liverpool’s successful history with Leipzig includes previous signings such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, and Naby Keita, making the prospect of securing Diomande a feasible option for the club.

Known for his agility and pace, Diomande also has interest from Paris Saint-Germain, adding to the competitive nature of this potential transfer. He moved to Leipzig from Leganes in Spain last summer, making a noticeable impact in the Bundesliga.

Salah’s farewell came after a poignant final appearance for Liverpool against Brentford, where he provided an assist before being substituted in the 74th minute to an emotional reception from teammates. The Egyptian declared, “I think I’ve cried more than in my whole life. I’m not really an emotional guy,” reflecting on his time at the club.

In discussing his departure, Salah expressed gratitude, stating, “We lived our youth here, sharing everything from the beginning to the end. We put this club back where it belongs.” As he embarks on a new chapter away from Anfield, he hopes the team continues to thrive in upcoming competitions.

With a significant investment in a new face like Diomande, Liverpool appears keen to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League as they navigate this transitional period. It serves as a reminder of how athletic legacies shape club identities, and the weight of carrying forward a storied franchise such as Liverpool remains ever-present.
