John Stones fined for speeding
England star John Stones has been fined after being caught speeding in his Range Rover, reports BritPanorama.
Stones, who currently plays for Inter Milan in Italy, admitted to the offence after police stopped him near his home in Cheshire last May.
He pleaded guilty to exceeding the 30mph limit on a restricted road, resulting in four penalty points on his driving record. Magistrates in Warrington fined the former Manchester City defender £666 and ordered him to pay additional costs amounting to £386.
The incident occurred shortly before his team’s 3-0 victory over Brentford last season. Stones signed a two-year contract with Inter in July after leaving City on a free transfer, with previous links to clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.
During his time at Manchester City, Stones won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League title. He gained recognition for his ball-playing capabilities and was affectionately dubbed “The Barnsley Beckenbauer” by fans, referencing the legendary German defender.
Stones has had his share of criticism early in his career but had the backing of coach Pep Guardiola. His tenure at City saw him play over 290 games, contributing both defensively and offensively, with notable performances including a key goal-line clearance against Liverpool in 2019 and a significant equaliser against Arsenal in 2024.
