Lewis Hamilton hit back at Max Verstappen’s suggestion he deserved a penalty after the pair reignited one of Formula One’s fiercest rivalries with a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle at the Austrian Grand Prix, reports BritPanorama.

Hamilton dismissed Verstappen’s claims after the race, insisting that the Dutch driver had only himself to blame for his ambitious move. “You don’t drive around the outside of a champion at Turn Four,” Hamilton said, adding that Verstappen had simply “run out of road.”

Post-race, he admitted the event had been a “reality check” for Ferrari, notwithstanding the team’s recent improvements. George Russell claimed victory for Mercedes after converting pole position into his second win of the season, holding off Verstappen in the closing stages, while Kimi Antonelli completed the podium.
