George Russell grapples with inconsistent performances
George Russell faces challenges as he seeks to improve his standings in the championship ahead of the upcoming Grand Prix, reports BritPanorama.
The driver, currently in contention with teammate Lewis Hamilton for the second position, has encountered significant fluctuations in his performance throughout the season.
Reflecting on recent results, Russell noted, “A couple of races ago we were on pole by 0.8 seconds (in Azerbaijan) and won the race, and then last week I finished in P8.” He expressed concern over the inconsistency, stating, “I’ve never had a season like this in my career where the performance has fluctuated so much.”
Russell acknowledged the team’s struggles to maintain a consistent high performance level, adding, “I know it’s in there because you can’t deliver performances like that in Baku if you’ve so-called ‘lost it’. It’s just we’re struggling to have a high hit-rate.” He emphasized the team’s ongoing efforts, remarking, “And it’s definitely not through a lack of trying. I’ve never had it personally before in my career, and I guess that’s probably the priority for me in these last few races.”
As the Grand Prix approaches, the focus will be on whether Russell can harness his previous successes and translate them into consistent results, crucial for his standing and the team’s overall performance this season.
