Andy Burnham urges release of £2.5 billion in frozen funds to support Ukraine

Roman Abramovich urges UK government to release financial support for Ukraine

Roman Abramovich has called on the UK government to expedite the release of crucial financial aid to Ukraine, highlighting the urgent need for support amid ongoing Russian attacks, reports BritPanorama.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Abramovich stressed that the current situation necessitates immediate action. “Can you imagine what kind of support it can provide to Ukraine? We have very, very extensive and severe attacks from Russia, and we need to protect our country,” he stated.

He further emphasized that Ukraine must not only receive words of support but also tangible assistance. “We need to survive and this money just stays years already with nothing happening. Really, I believe that the Government of England must do everything to release this money for Ukraine, because obviously, like we say, we have to invest in Ukraine,” he added.

Abramovich’s comments reflect a growing concern over the pace of international support for Ukraine amid a protracted conflict. He highlighted the necessity of turning verbal commitments into decisive actions to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.

As the conflict continues, the complexity of international relations complicates the dynamics of support offered to Ukraine, raising questions about the effectiveness of current assistance initiatives. The call for action comes as Ukraine grapples with the harsh realities of war and the need for consistent backing from its allies.

In times like these, the emphasis on proactive support serves as a poignant reminder that solidarity extends beyond words; it requires commitment and follow-through to truly make a difference. The situation remains fluid, and how the UK responds could significantly impact the broader narrative of international support for Ukraine.
