Inquest into Lady Joan Branson’s death scheduled
A full inquest into the death of Lady Joan Sarah Drummond Branson, wife of businessman Sir Richard Branson, is scheduled for 9 September, reports BritPanorama.
Lady Joan passed away at the age of 80 on 24 November at the Lister Hospital in Chelsea, West London, following a fall. The hearing is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding her death, particularly regarding any medical factors that may have contributed.
Senior Coroner Professor Fiona Wilcox indicated during a pre-inquest review that she aims to delve into the details to ensure lessons are drawn from the findings. An expert report presented at the review noted “clear evidence” of a blood clot in Lady Joan’s lungs, suggesting possible complications post-incident.
Sir Richard Branson, who was married to Lady Joan for 50 years, paid tribute to her, calling her the “shining star” around which their family’s universe orbited, highlighting the profound impact she had on their lives.
