Forest Green Rovers pursue legal action against Peterborough United
Forest Green Rovers are taking legal action against Peterborough United over claims of an illegal approach to their former manager, reports BritPanorama.
Rovers’ chairman demonstrated the seriousness of their grievance, stating that Peterborough had directly sought to engage with their manager without permission. “Peterborough themselves have covered themselves in no glory here. They came to us and said, ‘We would like to speak to your manager’,” he told the BBC.
According to Rovers, when they declined the request, Peterborough proceeded to speak with the manager anyway, leading to the chairman’s assertion that the approach was illegal. He elaborated, “We said no, and so they spoke to him, and then he came to us and said, ‘I hear Peterborough want to speak to me.’ So, that’s an illegal approach.”
In response, Posh chairman Darren MacAnthony refuted the claims, stating that Peterborough acted “100 per cent correct and proper, following all the rules.” He has maintained that their conduct was above board amid the allegations.
The backdrop to this dispute highlights the tensions that can arise in football management, particularly with the ongoing instability at Forest Green following the departure of their manager. Vince had confirmed the club would continue without a manager after Mark Savage’s exit, which only adds to the pressure as they navigate their current situation.
This unfolding saga serves as a reminder of the complex dynamics in football management, where the lines between approach and protocol can blur unexpectedly, leaving clubs at odds over responsibility and adherence to the rules.
