Young darts player aims for professional future
Sixteen-year-old Mitchell Lawrie has expressed his ambition to become a professional darts player, planning to pursue his dream in January by aiming for a tour card. Lawrie, who reflected on his aspirations, acknowledged the support he has received thus far, saying, “But that was before he went on to be what he is. And before I went on to be what I was as well,” reports BritPanorama.
Expressing his gratitude for the current support he has received from the World Darts Federation (WDF), Lawrie noted, “I’ve loved the WDF system and stuff. They’ve been great with me and I’ve enjoyed that a lot.” However, he highlighted the financial incentives of joining the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) as a significant factor in his decision to turn professional.
With his 16th birthday approaching next month, Lawrie is enthusiastic about what lies ahead. He stated, “Hopefully, I’ll get my tour card there and then go on to bigger and better things.” This pivotal moment in his young career could set the stage for a promising future in the competitive world of darts.
The excitement surrounding intended transitions within the world of darts often highlights the personal narratives of young athletes driven by ambition and opportunity, reminding fans that talent alone is just one part of a much larger equation.
