Young darts player aims for professional career
Mitchell Lawrie, a promising 15-year-old darts player, has expressed his intention to turn professional by January, following exceptional performances in amateur competitions, reports BritPanorama.
As he approaches his 16th birthday, Lawrie emphasized his lifelong ambition to become a professional darts player. “I’ve always wanted to be a professional darts player,” he stated, indicating a strong commitment to his sport.
In his pursuit of this goal, he expressed hope in obtaining a tour card at an upcoming event, which would allow him to advance in the ranks of professional darts. “Hopefully, I’ll get my tour card there and then go on to bigger and better things,” he remarked.
While acknowledging the support he received within the World Darts Federation (WDF), Lawrie noted the financial benefits offered by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) as a compelling reason to make the leap to the professional arena. “As I’ve said, I’ve loved the WDF system and stuff. They’ve been great with me and I’ve enjoyed that a lot. But the money’s right in the PDC,” he explained.
With ambition coursing through his veins, Lawrie’s aspirations underscore the rigorous yet exciting nature of the professional darts landscape, where talent and determination can swiftly open doors to success. In the world of sports, especially darts, every emerging star carries the weight of hope and expectation, making the journey as intriguing as the destination itself.
