Young darts prodigy aims for professional career
Sixteen-year-old Mitchell Lawrie has set his sights on becoming a professional darts player, with plans to secure his tour card in January, reports BritPanorama.
Lawrie, who acknowledges his passion for the sport, stated, “But that was before he went on to be what he is. And before I went on to be what I was as well.” His aspirations reflect a determination to navigate the competitive landscape of professional darts.
Expressing optimism about the upcoming challenges, he noted, “Hopefully, I’ll get my tour card there and then go on to bigger and better things.” Lawrie’s commitment to the game is evident through his appreciation for the World Darts Federation (WDF) system, which he described as beneficial to his development.
However, he also highlighted the financial advantages offered by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), stating, “As I’ve said, I’ve loved the WDF system and stuff. They’ve been great with me and I’ve enjoyed that a lot. But the money’s right in the PDC.”
As young talents like Lawrie emerge, the darts community will be watching closely, curious to see how this ambition unfolds in the arena of professional competition. The intersection of youth and ambition in sport often brings with it a mix of excitement and uncertainty, capturing the imagination of fans and critics alike.
