Roberto De Zerbi discusses team challenges amid Premier League struggles
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi acknowledged the pressing issues his team faces as they sit at the bottom of the Premier League. In recent meetings, he emphasised the need for responsibility among players and staff alike, reports BritPanorama.
De Zerbi stated, “We had two or three important meetings speaking about football, our situation and how everyone has to take responsibility. And nothing more. There were some dinners just for the players, some dinners just for the staff.” This reflects an effort to foster unity and focus within the squad during this challenging period.
The manager addressed the necessity for improvement, acknowledging that changes need to be made to alter the course of their season. “As a coach, you understand you have to improve, you have to change the situation, and you try to find all solutions,” he noted. His approach appears to underline a commitment to adaptability in the face of adversity.
Reflecting on past experiences, De Zerbi recounted successful training camps held during his tenure at Marseille, believing the strategy could yield positive outcomes for Brighton. “I already did this type of training camp two times with Marseille and it was a good solution,” he remarked, underpinning his confidence in structured team-building efforts.
In collaboration with club figures, including Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange, De Zerbi revealed that decisions regarding their training camp were made collectively, demonstrating a united front amid uncertainties. “I spoke with the club, with Vinai, with Johan, with the owner and together we took the decision, but it’s nothing special,” he clarified, suggesting a pragmatic approach to navigating the difficulties ahead.
As the Premier League season unfolds, Brighton will need to harness determination and strategic insights if they are to climb out of the relegation zone. The path may be arduous, but De Zerbi’s focus on accountability and team cohesion could illuminate a route back to form.
