Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall addresses fan backlash after Everton’s transfer turmoil
Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has expressed his frustration regarding the backlash from supporters following the club’s challenging summer transfer window, reports BritPanorama.
The 28-year-old acknowledged the social media outrage that ensued during the transfer window, stating: “I’ve seen all of the reactions, all of the meltdowns, and in all honestly it annoyed me a bit.” The Toffees experienced a chaotic deadline day marked by the departure of four players, including key winger Iliman Ndiaye, who transferred to Manchester City.
Despite the departures, securing new signings proved problematic. Everton did manage to acquire Jack Grealish on loan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, but a reported £40 million deal for US international striker Folarin Balogun collapsed unexpectedly as he withdrew just minutes after submitting the necessary paperwork.
Adding to the uncertainty, the Friedkin Group announced a partial sale of the club shortly after the transfer window closed, intensifying concerns among fans regarding the ownership’s strategy. Nonetheless, Dewsbury-Hall was keen to highlight the quality within the remaining squad, declaring, “Our starting XI is top, like it’s a European starting XI,” and confirming that “17, 18 players at a really, really good level” remain at the club.
While acknowledging the supporters’ wishes for additions to the team, he urged them to support the existing players. “I get where people are coming from. Everyone wants to sign everyone and have the perfect squad, but there are still 19 lads in this building who are going to hopefully take this club to good things this year,” he said.
