Chelsea secures thrilling 4-3 victory over Brighton
Chelsea’s brilliant start to the Premier League season continued with a breathtaking 4-3 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge — a match that had absolutely everything, reports BritPanorama.
Xabi Alonso faced his first home league fixture as Chelsea manager and was greeted with a dream opening as Romeo Lavia scored his maiden Chelsea goal only four minutes into the match. Lavia capitalized on a mistake from Brighton, as Bart Verbruggen spilled a corner after Mats Wieffer had cleared Joao Pedro’s header off the line.
Things swiftly improved for Chelsea when Morgan Rogers outmuscled Brighton’s record purchase, Luka Vuskovic, to deliver a precise cross to Pedro Neto, who extended the lead to 2-0 in the 14th minute.
As Chelsea showed their attacking prowess, Jorrel Hato’s pace down the left flank set up Joao Pedro for the third goal in the 32nd minute. At 3-0, the game seemed to be in hand for the home side, but Brighton remained resilient. Debutant goalkeeper Emi Martinez could not contain Charalampos Kostoulas’s attack, and Malick Yalcouye netted a rebound just before half-time, bringing Brighton back into contention.

However, Cole Palmer stepped up for Chelsea, delivering a stunning goal from outside the area in the 74th minute, restoring a two-goal cushion with the score at 4-2. Yet, Brighton refused to give up hope. Gross added to the excitement by heading in another goal from a late chance, narrowing the score to 4-3.
