George Russell announces engagement to Carmen Montero Mundt
Formula One’s George Russell and long-time girlfriend, Carmen Montero Mundt, have announced their engagement, and there’s only one question on everyone’s minds: where are the ring details?, reports BritPanorama.
The couple shared a number of photos on Instagram featuring a candlelit dinner and the sizeable rock itself, which consists of a large oval-cut yellow diamond, estimated to be around eight to ten carats, accompanied by two smaller white diamonds.
Neil Dutta, Managing Director at jeweller Angelic Diamonds, remarked, “It’s a beautiful three-stone setting, and the proportions have been really well considered.” He noted the elongated oval shape provides ample finger coverage, while the white side stones enhance the yellow centre without overshadowing it.
Dutta elaborated, “For me, though, it’s the colour of that centre diamond that really sets this ring apart.” He expects the diamond to fall into the Fancy Vivid Yellow category, often referred to as a canary diamond. The expert explained that yellow diamonds derive their colour from nitrogen within the stone, with deeper, more saturated hues being rarer and more valuable. “Getting this intensity of colour in a natural diamond at this carat weight is exceptional,” he added.
Yellow diamonds lend a distinctive flair to what is typically a traditional three-stone engagement ring. Dutta indicated that they are often associated with warmth, joy, and optimism, making them fitting for an engagement ring while still feeling timeless. His valuation estimates the ring at between £550,000-£600,000.
The couple, both 28, have been together since 2020, having met during an unexpected double date orchestrated by Montero Mundt’s friend. One of the guys had to cancel, prompting Russell to step in without prior expectations.
