Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks reconnect after years of estrangement

Lindsey Buckingham has revealed that he and former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Stevie Nicks have rekindled their friendship after years of a complicated relationship marked by professional and personal turmoil, reports BritPanorama.

The pair — who famously dated from 1972 to 1976 — faced a significant rift when Buckingham, 76, was dismissed from the group in 2018 amid creative tensions. The decision reportedly followed an ultimatum from Nicks, 78. Buckingham subsequently sued Fleetwood Mac for millions, ultimately settling in December 2018, while Nicks denied having been instrumental in his firing.

After his departure, the two maintained minimal contact, with their last encounter being at Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie’s funeral in 2022. Now, Buckingham noted, “Stevie and I are talking all the time.”

During an interview with E! News at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event, he indicated that the two are collaborating on a documentary about Fleetwood Mac. “I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us,” Buckingham stated.

Following the re-release of their 1973 collaborative album, Buckingham Nicks, last year, speculation grew surrounding their future musical endeavors. Buckingham hinted at upcoming developments, cryptically suggesting, “Next year should be a pretty interesting year, because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves.”

Nicks recently appeared on the music podcast Song Exploder to reflect on the concept behind the album’s track “Frozen Love.” She described it as about “two people that were in love, that had a lot of differences,” emphasizing the complexities of their relationship.

Despite the difficult history, Nicks remarked, “Our relationship was up and down and up and down and difficult, but at the same time, fantastic.” Their experience serves as a reminder of the dualities inherent in long-term partnerships, personally and professionally.

This new chapter in their relationship suggests potential future collaborations, as both artists continue to navigate their shared history.
